Good Estate Agents make Good Recruitment Consultants – but the opportunities are better!

In the current economic climate, it may be difficult for even the best Estate agents, to achieve bonuses which typically make up so much of their remuneration and it might be a good time to consider alternatives.

Many Estate Agents have gone onto become extremely effective Recruitment Agents. The skills required in both are very similar – an ability to get on with people, an ability to really understand where their requirement are firm, and where they are flexible. An ability to get people to agree on terms, and to close deals and an ability to be as fresh on a Friday pm, as you are on Monday morning.

Its not surprising it works.

A typical recruiter will achieve a salary of between £15 and £25k depending on where they are working and in which area of recruitment. Bonuses are usually unlimited, and often double at least the salary. Many recruitment companies work hard and play hard and have a great range of bonuses and incentive trips.

Cody have an open day in London every month and invite Estate Agents to come and sit an aptitude test. This test is such that we would base our recommendations to clients on it, independently of interview or prior job stability. It sorts out the brilliant but maverick, from the good but good, from the OK but not exciting and we wont say what’s next. That’s how we interpret the test…anyhow!
